We realize our members are students first, and we want to see them succeed academically. As a Fraternity, we provide education to our scholarship officers on utilizing campus resources for academic assistance and encourage them to consistently evaluate their chapter’s activities in order to make sure the member experience is fostering an environment that champions academic success. While being part of a sorority is full of fun and friendships, Alpha Gamma Delta also strives to enhance the academic lives of our members. Because scholarship is the highest standard by which the Gamma Alpha Chapter holds itself, we encourage all of our sisters to excel in academics. To keep our sisters accountable, our Vice President-Scholarship prepares an academic plan each year. This academic plan includes mandatory study hours for all newly initiated sisters, provides members with the best resources possible to excel in their classes, and tracks weekly study hours to help each individual and the chapter achieve our scholastic goals.
Each semester the Fraternity recognizes all members who obtain a 3.14 or higher grade point average with certificates as part of the Strive for Pi program. Gamma Alpha Chapter also holds an annual Scholarship Banquet to recognize sisters who have exceeded the chapter’s scholastic goals. Alpha Gamma Delta has made a commitment to academic excellence for the individual and the chapter, and we have set goals to ensure that academic achievement remains a priority.
Gamma Alpha Chapter recognizes the vast diversity of majors that The University of Georgia offers and embraces that diversity in our members. Among our sisters we have numerous majors represented so it is never hard to find another sister who has the same major. We encourage all of our older sisters to seek out our new members who have the same major to provide guidance and answer any questions they may have. Our chapter continually strives to live up to the opening statement of our Purpose which is “To gain understanding that wisdom may be vouchsafed to me.”
